Update from Uganda!

A Story from Uganda
When our family committed to joining His Healing Hands in
Uganda for our second medical mission trip (you remember we went to Peru and Mountainbrook had the sock drive for us?), I was certain that I wanted to leave a bigger impact than before. One Sunday morning during service, I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit telling me that I could raise enough money for a bore-hole well. During our initial efforts, I have to admit, I was frustrated with our lack of progress. If the Lord had called us to this, then wouldn't He equip us with motivation and encouragement and resources? Thanks to Mountainbrook's willingness to reach people locally and globally and your support of us and wanting to be a part of what our family is trying to accomplish by the grace by Jesus, we were able to raise $3400 (1/3 of the total cost of our well) during our auction at the Easter Egg Hunt. This really gave us great momentum, and I am proud to say that the well, which will serve up to 1000 people in Arua, Uganda, is currently up and running. Our little family will be on a plane tomorrow morning traveling to Arua to see the well in action and to see the faces of
those whose lives have been dramatically changed (not to mention lives saved).  We will also be serving in a mobile medical clinic led by a team of local physicians and sharing the gospel with all those that come through.  I am so proud of the community that I serve in and that it has done so much to serve me as I strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  This has been a special season of looking outside of ourselves at Mountainbrook.  Thanks to you and Pastor Thom for giving us the charge of doing for one what we wish we could do for many!

SENT Week 5: July 28st
Justice Fair and Mb Abolitionists

Justice Fair
As in previous years we will be hosting a “Justice Fair” where our goal is to highlight our non-profit partners and friends that are working to bring change and justice to our community and world.  Our goal is to raise awareness, provide information and opportunities for people to get involved in this mission.  The non-profits will be here before, during and after each service to provide information and answer any questions you may have.  Non-profits that will be present include: Aids Support Network, Family Care Network, Habitat for Humanity, Okipe, Prado Day Center, Seeds of Hope, Mb Abolitionists, World Vision, Yokefellows Prison Fellowship, HumanKind, Got Your Back SLO, and Lifewater International.

Mb Abolitionists
Mb Abolitionists began as a response to learning of the horror and travesty of modern day slavery. They meet twice a month to pray and share what they have learned together as they aim to bring increased awareness and action against human trafficking on the Central Coast.  They will be hosting a Justice Summit in November to equip the local community and could use prayer, and help planning. For more information please contact rturner@mountainbrook.net.

SENT Week 3 Featuring the Mexico Team: July 14th

SENT Week 3: July 14th
Featuring the Mexico Team
For several years now, we have had the privilege of sending teams to do a variety of outreach projects in the community of Vicente Guererro. Partnering with Welcome Home Ministry Center our teams have had the opportunity to visit orphanages, spend time with children in a daycare, pass out donations and food bags to a poor farming camp, and complete small building projects.
This year we have a small team returning to Vicente Guererro we look forward to reuniting with friends and making new friends. We have some small building projects planned for this trip as well as many outreach activities. We appreciate your prayers and support!  For more information you can email Jamie Neutill at jamie@cjneventplanning.com

After working for five years in Malawi, Africa, Janet and two families from her team moved across the border to live and work among the Yao people of Mozambique.  The team focuses on partnering the gospel with community development projects.  Janet has used her education in International Agriculture to start farming clubs in the hope of equipping local subsistence farmers with knowledge and practices to get them through the yearly hunger season.
